Maria Modugno
Maria Modugno is the executive editorial director of Random House Studio/Random House Children’s Books. This new imprint focuses on picture books with a strong and recognizable aesthetic and also publishes other formats, especially books with an illustrative or design component.
Maria has held positions at Harcourt, Little Brown and Company, and Harper Collins. She is drawn to character-based picture books, as evidenced by her acquisition and editing of The Napping House by Audrey Wood and Don Wood, Toot & Puddle by Holly Hobbie, Splat the Cat by Rob Scotton, and Pinkalicious by Victoria Kann. Her recent titles for RHCB include Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Brigette Barrager, Grumpy Monkey, written and illustrated by Suzanne and Max Lang, Penguin Problems by Jory John and illustrated by Lane Smith, and Attack of the Underwear Dragon by Scott Rothman and illustrated by Peter Oswald.
