Two of the most frequently asked questions we receive: Can I continue working with my mentor? Can my mentor read my entire novel?

New for 2023, two extra opportunities to receive feedback from mentors:

1. You may purchase another packet to continue working with your mentor. In this instance, you will receive editorial notes in addition to a Zoom or phone check-in with your mentor.

2. Your mentor can read your entire novel and/or multiple picture books manuscripts.

Please Note:

• At the moment, full novel and/or additional packets are only available to students who have worked with our mentors through our mentorship program. If you were not a mentee and you purchase a packet or a novel read, you will be reimbursed minus the credit card fee.

• Mentors will decide whether they wish to read your next packet and/or your novel. If your mentor feels they cannot help you with your project any longer, your mentor may decline these additional reads.

• Additional packets must be given to the mentor who worked with you on this project.

• If you purchase a novel read, your mentor will provide you with overall guidance: instructional and editorial notes designed to help you hone your skills.

• For 2023 Kathryn Erskine, Shelley Tanaka and Phyllis Root are available to read additional packets/manuscripts. Gary Schmidt and Patti Gauch will NOT be available for 2023. 

Pricing

Additional novel packet includes: $525, which includes 40 pages, an editorial letter, and one phone or Zoom meeting.

Additional picture book packet includes: $525 for three hours of reading and discussion time. You and Phyllis will decide together how you will use these hours.

Full novel read: $1875 for up to 160 pages. Each additional page is $12
